BIO
Gerald K. Stone is a visual artist who resides in Palm Beach County, Florida. A native of Montreal, he earned his B.A. and Master of Library Science degrees, respectively, from Concordia and McGill universities. During his undergraduate years he studied with artists Charles Gagnon and Günter Nolte. Gerald retired in 2009 after a lengthy career at Canada's national archives and library, including positions in the National Photography Collection and Documentary Art and Photography Division. His assemblages pay homage to the renowned artist Louise Nevelson. Gerald incorporates wooden toy blocks, boxes, and trays; fragments of discarded furniture and scrap lumber; as well as other found objects into coherent works of art. The work provides an opportunity to reincarnate detritus as objects of contemplation and to create an iota of order and balance in a world of chaos and disarray.

REVIEWS
"Gerald K. Stone's work is both an homage to Nevelson and a meticulous inquiry of his life experience through the media of assemblage. Each of Stone's works tell a story and often have deep personal meaning. Visually, they are magical puzzles of shapes connected by his unerring eye for precision and a touch of whimsy."
Jessica Ransom, Director of Artist Services, Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, Lake Worth Beach, Florida, 2023.
"There is something immensely personal about the work of Gerald Stone, a quality only heightened by the coolness of its presentation and the care which goes into the composition of each work. As the titles themselves suggest, there is a sense of trauma, implicit or overt, laying just beneath their surfaces, a fragility thoughtfully approached and organized so as to amplify what is poetic and beautiful."
